Kimono de Jack Autumn - October 22 or 23

Deze oktober is de Japanse Tuin Clingendael weer voor een korte periode geopend. Het leek mij wel leuk als een soort van kimono meeting hier een middag naar toe te gaan.

Kimono de Jack Leiden

At the moment there is a small and wonderful exhibition of children's kimono at the Sieboldhuis in Leiden.

Kimono Club wanted to go and tried the first Kimono de Jack The Netherlands ever.

It was a great success, 6 ladies in kimono!
And this for a very, very small country!


Linda Hanssen (textile curator at the "Wereld Museum" Rotterdam) gave a great speech about kimono and learned us a lot about the children kimono, I think it was very special.

We could have know that after the lecture the attendants wanted us to show our selves.
I tried to explain as good and comprehensible as possible what every lady was wearing.












The weather was gorgeous (lucky us!) And of course Kimono Club wanted THE picture, of all zori/tabi feet. I think it's a cute coincidence we're all in pink, purple and mint tones ^_^




















It was a fun day, thank you ladies for making the first Dutch Kimono de Jack such a success!

10 juli lezing in het SieboldHuis, Leiden

In het SieboldHuis te Leiden is vanaf 2 juni de tentoonstelling Kawaii Kimono te zien. Zoals te lezen in de vorige post, gaat deze tentoonstelling over de kinderkimono. Er zijn verschillende kinderkimono te zien en wat deze in een Japans gezin betekenen.

10 juli (14.00 uur) geeft Linda Hanssen de lezing "De kinderkimono: een kleine kimono voor grote verwachtingen in het leven" in de Panoramakamer in het SieboldHuis.

Zin om te komen? We hebben al 6 plaatsen gereserveerd, waarvan er 2 al zijn bezet. Laat iets weten door een berichtje te plaatsen en we zorgen dat er een plaats voor je is. Je kan je eventueel ook aanmelden via info@sieboldhuis.org.

Leiden's SieboldHuis has the current exhibition Kawaii Kimono on display. As written in our previous post, this exhibition is about children's kimono and what it means in Japanese families.

July 10th (14.00 hrs) Linda Hanssen will be holding the lecture "The children's kimono: a small kimono for big expectations in life" (in Dutch), in the Panoramaroom at the SieboldHuis.

Kawaii Kimono - SieboldHuis Leiden

In het SieboldHuis in Leiden is van 2 juni t/m 14 augustus de tentoonstelling Kawaii Kimono te zien. Deze tentoonstelling is onderdeel van het Kawaii Jaar bij het SieboldHuis en laat een unieke collectie kinderkimono's zien van Kazuko Nakano. Het bevat topstukken uit de 16e tot het begin van de 20e eeuw en laat de bezoeker een blik werpen op het Japanse gezin en hun kinderen.

Tijdens deze tentoonstelling organiseert het SieboldHuis een aantal leuke activiteiten:

Lezing 'De kinderkimono: een kleine kimono voor grote verwachtingen in het leven' door Linda Hanssen, conservator Textiel in het Wereldmuseum

13 & 14 augustus
Fashion weekend: Van cosplay en visual kei tot lolita en gyaru - moderne Japanse kledingstijlen verantwoord

25 juni,  2 juli,  23 juli,  30 juli en 6 augustus
Gratis rondleidingen over de tentoonstelling
Max. aantal deelnemers is 15 per rondleiding, dus graag aanmelden.

From June 2 until August 14 you can see the exhibition Kawaii Kimono at SieboldHuis in Leiden. This exhibition is part of Kawaii Year at SieboldHuis and shows Kazuko Nakano's unique collection of children's kimono. This collection holds masterpieces dating from the 16th century until early 20th century, and shows a glimpse of Japanese families and their children.

During this exposition, SieboldHuis organises a few extra activities:

Op zondag 31 januari 2010 organiseren de Urasenke Netherlands Liaison Office en de Urasenke Netherlands Shofukan Study Group weer de jaarlijkse hatsu chakai.
